Positive Endline Results for Early Literacy and Maths Intervention

Summary

Save the Children Vietnam, with funding from Bulgari, scaled up its Early Literacy and Maths intervention for ethnic minority and migrant children in Vietnam. This intervention was designed based on lessons learned and best practices of previous projects using Save the Children (SC)’s common approaches in education. This project contributed to improve the school readiness, learning outcomes and access to hygiene facilities in schools among deprived children in Hai Phong, Quang Ninh, Quang Binh, Da Nang, Tien Giang and Can Tho provinces. It specifically helped improve the emergent literacy, math skills and hygiene practices of deprived pre-school children; and improve the learning outcomes, especially the literacy level deprived primary school students.

The endline results from IDELA show improvement for children in the treatment group and detailed analysis of benchmarks and benchmark improvement for the study group.
