Institute for Fiscal Studies Uses Play-Based ECD Instruction in Ghana

IFS Involves Teachers and Parents to Improve the Quality of ECD Programs


In this report, the Institute for Fiscal Studies (IFS) identifies three obstacles to improving the quality of ECD programming in rural Ghana: lack of training and resources for teachers, lack of educational involvement by caregivers and lack of play-based learning. IFS decided to address these challenges by helping Ghanaian teachers to develop more play-based ECD programming with the assistance of volunteer mothers.
