The Step by Step Foundation Evaluates Roma Students in Ukrainian ECD Programs
Providing Support for Marginalized Roma ECD Students, Teachers and Parents
> International Step by Step Association > The Step by Step Foundation Evaluates Roma Students in Ukrainian ECD Programs
Summary
The Ukrainian Step by Step Foundation (USSF) uses parenting programs and culturally-sensitive interventions in schools to help close the gap in performance between Roma and non-Roma children. This report reveals that their work enrolling caregivers in their "Parenting With Confidence" program and providing teachers with training and Roma assistants didn't produce significant improvements in their Roma preschool students' IDELA scores, but school-aged students did close the gap impressively. USSF is continuing to develop their programming with increased awareness of the challenges in front of them.
