Findings from Year 3 of Play-Based ECD BERMAIN Program in Indonesia

using idela data to inform continued programming development

Summary

Better Education through Emphasizing Right to Play for More Attainment of Early Childhood Improvement (BERMAIN) is a project initiated with the belief that play is the best method to promote early childhood learning. In order to improve children’s school readiness, BERMAIN focuses on quality improvement of education in Early Childhood Care and Development Centers (ECCD) by equipping them with a combination of play and active learning methodologies, educational materials and teacher training.

This follow up report includes results from a year three endline data collection done in November 2017. IDELA and Quality Learning Environment (QLE) assessments were used. While the overall scores increased by endline, they highlight particular areas were greater gains may be possible and the ways in which Save the Children will work towards program improvement.
