Final Report on Mitigating the Impact of Violence on Young Children
Introduction
In El Salvador, Save the Children identified the need to supplement its existing early childhood development programs with a Toxic Stress Mitigation Model to address how children and caregivers manage stress and develop resilience. The three main program elements were positive discipline, resilience building and caregiving practices with an emphasis on male caregivers.
The study found positive impacts for children and caregivers in a number of areas. The report provides insight into these specific gains and recommendations for the future.
The webinar linked below features presentations by the report's authors and gives an in depth look at the program context, study design and results.
