Education Assessment Results from Tagalog and Bicol Regions of Philippines
Summary
Food for the Hungry Philippines conducted its first education assessment in Tagalog and Bicol, which coincided with the quantitative data collection for the Midterm Evaluation. The study aimed to determine the baseline values for key performance indicators and to understand the education situation in these two areas. Overall, there were 1,432 children and 379 caregivers interviewed in this assessment.
The findings demonstrate that every factor in a child’s learning development is equally vital to their early grade success and school completion. Numerous Filipino children fall behind the expected conventional school capabilities such as literacy and numeracy. With these findings, Food for the Hungry Philippines plans to implement the Early Child Development framework in three communities of Bulacan Cluster.
