Beyond Access: exploring equity in early childhood learning and development

Authors Lauren Pisani, Amy Jo Dowd and Frannie Noble detail the results of a recent IDELA study which examines the data from 20,000 children across 38 study sites. The article notes that, “Less than one-third of 6-year-old children from 38 sites around the world are transitioning into primary school with mastery of foundational early literacy, numeracy and social-emotional skills,” and goes on to detail the implications for students, teachers and those developing early childhood programming. The blog also discusses factors that positively or negative influence early learning skills.
