ECD Baseline Data from Syrian Refugee Program in Lebanon

This dataset includes data from 293 children living in Bekaa and Akkar camps in Lebanon. The data were collected as the baseline for an evaluation led by the International Rescue Committee (IRC). The program aimed to improve early childhood development programming for Syrian refugee children living in the camps. The average age of children was 4.1 years.

There was a large range in children’s overall IDELA scores but the most common was 11-20% correct.

Most children in the sample were four years old.

On average, one additional year was associated with an additional 10 percentage points correct in overall IDELA score.

Distribution of children’s gender

53% of children in the sample were female.

Average Total IDELA score by child’s gender

There were no significant differences in children’s overall IDELA scores by gender.
